WhatsApp chats, emails, or a timeline you saved before

How do I get my WhatsApp chat?

iPhone: open the chat, tap the person's name at the top, scroll down and tap Export Chat, choose Without Media, then Save to Files. Then come back here, tap Choose files and pick that file.

Android: open the chat, tap ⋮ (top right), then More, then Export chat, choose Without media, and save it to your phone. Then come back here and tap Choose files.

The steps can differ a little between WhatsApp versions.

    Timeline of messages

    Each entry is copied from the file named under it. Text marked "My note" was added by me and is not part of the messages.

    Dates and deadlines

    Hearings, deadlines and appointments, with how many days are left. They are kept with your work when you tap Save to carry on later. Nothing is sent anywhere.

    Your chronology

    Your starred messages and the dates you marked "put in my chronology", in date order. Edit each line so it says briefly what happened.

    Keep each entry short and factual, one line per event. If you disagree with the other side's version of an event, tick "disputed" instead of arguing it. Courts limit a chronology to 10 pages. Never include an address or contact details you are keeping confidential.
